Question 1

How does Emberveil monitor my property?

Accepted Answer

You enroll a parcel by its boundary, and Emberveil builds a property-specific watch around that footprint. The monitoring view brings together the parcel, fire-weather outlook, defensible-space assessment, and plain-language recommendations in one place. In the current product experience, some readings are deterministic snapshots while live data connections are being refined, so the dashboard and reports identify their sources and limitations.

Question 2

What locations and signals does Emberveil watch?

Accepted Answer

The primary location is your enrolled parcel and its nearby fire-weather context. Emberveil is designed around satellite fire signals and fire-weather indicators such as wind, relative humidity, and dryness or burning-index trends. A report is a property snapshot—not a promise that every satellite pass or government feed is live, complete, or available at every location.

Question 3

What do the A–F defensible-space grades mean?

Accepted Answer

The grade is a consistent way to describe exposure around structures: A indicates lower exposure and F indicates critical exposure. It considers the assessed vegetation density, the perimeter with the most exposure, and any setback gap near structures. It is an informational risk indicator, not a code-compliance certification, property appraisal, or insurance underwriting decision.

Question 4

How can I improve a defensible-space grade?

Accepted Answer

Start with the perimeter and drivers called out in the report: clear the recommended setback, remove dead fuel, thin dense shrubs, and prune lower branches where appropriate. Recheck the work after seasonal growth or a high-wind event. Emberveil can document the next assessment, but it cannot guarantee a grade change or prevent a wildfire.

Question 5

How do alerts trigger, and what does an alert mean?

Accepted Answer

In the current alert workflow, the latest fire-weather reading is evaluated against property thresholds for wind, humidity, and dryness. A threshold breach is labeled Elevated or Red Flag and includes the reading, severity, and practical actions to review. An alert means conditions crossed that configured threshold; it does not by itself mean a fire is on your parcel or that evacuation is required.

Question 6

How quickly will an alert arrive, and what are the limits?

Accepted Answer

Alert timing depends on when the underlying reading is available and how the notification channel delivers it. Emberveil does not promise a guaranteed lead time, continuous sensor coverage, or emergency-service response. Treat an alert as decision support, confirm conditions with local authorities, and call 911 for an immediate emergency. The current checkout records the notification workflow and plain-language email path; SMS delivery is not a substitute for official warnings.

Question 7

What is included in the weekly risk report?

Accepted Answer

The weekly report brings together the property snapshot, current fire status, an A–F defensible-space grade, a 72-hour fire-weather outlook, the seven-day fire-weather trend, and practical recommendations. It also includes the generated date and source or limitation notes so you can tell what the report does—and does not—claim. The report is informational and not an underwriting determination.

Question 8

How can the risk report help at insurance renewal?

Accepted Answer

Use the dated report as an organized record of observed conditions, defensible-space work to discuss, and recommendations you have acted on. It can make a renewal conversation more concrete when paired with your insurer’s requested documents. Emberveil does not promise carrier acceptance, a premium discount, or a particular underwriting outcome; your insurer makes those decisions.
